John Groom

Emeritus Professor of International Relations, University of Kent

Professor Groom joined the School in 1972 and has been an Emeritus Professor since 2004. He is a Guest Professor of Renmin University and Xian International Studies University of China and teaches regularly at Sciences-Po Paris, the IEP de Lille and the Diplomatische Akademie Wien.

He has been particularly active in professional associations having been the Founder and for ten years Chairman of the European Standing Group for International Relations, Chairman of BISA and Vice-President of ISA, a member of the Executive Committee of the European Consortium for Political Research and a Board Member of the Academic Council for the United Nations System. He is currently Executive Secretary of the World International Studies Committee and Academic Director of the European Summer University.

He has published 16 books and over 100 articles and chapters in the fields of International Relations, International Organization, Conflict and Strategic Studies, European International Relations and British foreign and defense policy.
