В статье рассматриваются основные тенденции современного газетного языка, используемого в британской прессе и рассчитанного на читателей разного социального уровня. Сравнение текстов статей «качественных» изданий и таблоидов позволяет выделить языковые средства, различающиеся в зависимости от читательской аудитории.

The article deals with the main tendencies of modern British newspaper language addressed to readers with different background. Comparing texts in «quality» newspapers and «middlebrow» tabloids allows to reveal linguistic means differing according to social audiences.
